What Chelsea now exclusively get to do after 3-0 win over PSG in Club World Cup final, never happened before
Chelsea cemented themselves as champions of the world with a 3-0 win over PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
A brilliant brace by Cole Palmer within just 30 minutes stunned the French giants, before the England international then assisted Joao Pedro for a third – delighting Enzo Maresca, who has banked Chelsea an estimated £100m by navigating the Blues all the way in the United States this summer.
Along with a newly designed FIFA Club World Cup trophy – which can strangely be unlocked with a key – Chelsea have secured themselves another unprecedented badge of honour after defeating PSG in New Jersey.
Chelsea secure right to wear gold FIFA Club World Cup patch for next four years
Typically, whoever wins the FIFA Club World Cup only gets the honour of wearing the gold patch upon their chest for 12 months, as the competition was a yearly event.
Now, however, since Gianni Infantino rebranded the tournament, the FIFA Club World Cup will take place every four years, just like the FIFA World Cup.
It means Chelsea – who PSG No.9 Goncalo Ramos praised – will be able to boast their status as world champions in front of their Premier League rivals on a weekly basis in four consecutive seasons, a fact which is sure to delight the Stamford Bridge faithful – along with the hefty amount of prize money awarded as well.
As well as a newly designed trophy, FIFA have also made a different badge for their rebranded competition.
The Premier League actually blocked Liverpool from wearing the prestigious patch regularly after the Reds won the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2019 – allowing the honour for just one game – but Chelsea will not suffer the same fate, as that stance has since changed.
Why were Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup?
Having finished fourth in the Premier League last season, many have wondered why Chelsea were even involved in the competition this summer, whereas the likes of Liverpool – who won the title – stayed at home.
The reason for this is because FIFA opted to select just two teams per country, prioritising those who have won the UEFA Champions League most recently.
Liverpool won the iconic trophy in 2019, but Chelsea and Manchester City then did likewise in 2021 and 2023 respectively, consequently nudging the Reds out of contention.

AC Milan decide on their number one striker target amid interest in Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson

Sat 12 July 2025 15:15, UK
TBR Football can exclusively reveal the plans for AC Milan’s striker search amid links with Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
Despite already having a bloated squad list, Chelsea’s spending has continued this summer, and this has seen an attacking overhaul.
Chelsea first signed Liam Delap from Ipswich, before adding another striker in the form of Joao Pedro who has been an instant success thus far.
Recruiting up front at such an expensive and rapid rate has left Nicolas Jackson worried about his future at Chelsea, as TBR Football previously revealed, with the club not big enough for three starting number nines.
This concern has grown and now TBR Football understand that Jackson’s future at Chelsea is potentially over, with the club believing he has had enough chances to impress.
But where could the future take him?

AC Milan set Dusan Vlahovic as top striker target this summer
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Jackson has several options this summer, and among the suitors are AC Milan.
The Serie A outfit are believed to be keeping an eye on the situation around the Senegal international this summer, however he has not emerged as their number one target.
Instead, TBR Football can reveal that Milan are fully focused on signing Dusan Vlahovic this summer instead as his future at Juventus looks beyond salvation.
The Serbian is Milan’s number one target and they are currently progressing within talks to sign the striker labelled “massive” and “strong” by Roberto Boninsegna, as quoted by Tutto Mercato Web.
Bailey adds that Vlahovic is also in talks over leaving Juventus on a free, giving up his contract at the club, which would then pave the way for Milan to swoop in and sign him.
Dusan Vlahovic is also wanted in the Premier League
The striker market this summer is very competitive with several top options for clubs already off the table, with Chelsea signing two of them.
This has meant that there is a genuine race to sign Vlahovic this summer with several clubs all keen on the big Serbian.
Manchester United and Nottingham Forest have been linked, but TBR Football reported that Vlahovic has always preferred to join AC Milan and remain in Italy, which suggests everything is falling into place for the player this summer.
Last season for Juventus, Vlahovic scored 17 goals which showcases that he is far from finished in football, and whoever signs him this summer has an excellent player on their hands who all but guarantees goals.
