Chelsea to find out if Moises Caicedo will be fit for the final.

Top Chelsea insider shares Moises Caicedo update amid fears over ankle injury.

Moises Caicedo will have tests on his ankle after the Chelsea squad were scheduled to have a day off on Wednesday according to journalist Kieran Gill.

Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of Caicedo for Sunday’s Club World Cup final against Paris Saint Germain, after the 23-year-old went over on his ankle in the final minutes of Tuesday’s win against Fluminense.

Enzo Maresca confirmed after the game Caicedo had twisted his ankle, although the midfielder came back on and finished the game after some treatment.

Moises Caicedo to undergo tests on his ankle

Caicedo was once again brilliant in the middle of the park, after returning to the team having been suspended for the quarter final against Palmeiras.

There’s yet to be an official update on the Ecuadorian, but Caicedo did take to Instagram to tell Chelsea fans he’d see them on Sunday.

Chelsea now face an anxious wait, and Mail Sport’s Kieran Gill has reported Caicedo is set to undergo tests on his ankle on the squad’s rest day which was scheduled for Wednesday.

Caicedo’s importance to the team can’t be underestimated and he started all 38 of Chelsea’s Premier League games last season.

The Ecuador international is arguably playing the best football of his career, and it would be a hammer blow if he was missing for the final.

Chelsea face midfield headache

It’s not just Caicedo who Chelsea have doubts over for Sunday, with it also unclear if Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo will be fit.

Lavia has missed the last two games, which will be a concern, whilst Essugo missed the semi final with what was described as a small muscular issue.

Chelsea will hope at a bare minimum Caicedo is fit, but if not there could be a huge opportunity for the likes of Essugo if fit, or Andrey Santos to step up and make a name for themselves.
