Monday 1 September is Transfer Deadline Day. Here is everything you need to know.
What is Transfer Deadline Day?
It is the final opportunity for clubs to sign players and strengthen their squads until the next transfer window (more on that below).
When does Deadline Day end?
The summer 2025 transfer window will shut on Monday 1 September, at 19:00 BST, a slightly earlier time than the traditional 23:00 BST closing time that has been used previously. The window opened early, between Sunday 1 June and Tuesday 10 June, due to an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup. It then reopened on Monday 16 June.
When do other leagues’ windows close?
To ensure harmonisation with the major leagues in Europe, the closing date of 1 September will also apply to the EFL, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1, who will all close their summer transfer windows on the same date.
But players from Premier League clubs may still complete a transfer away after 1 September as the deadlines for other leagues may differ.

Can signings be made after the deadline?
While the window shuts at 19:00 BST, deals can still be announced after the deadline. That is because clubs have a two-hour grace period to complete a signing if they have submitted a deal sheet ahead of the deadline.

Who may move ahead of Deadline Day?
Deadline Day is traditionally a busy day of transfer activity. There are lots of reported signings. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, while Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly seeking a creative midfielder. Chelsea are supposedly on the lookout for a new signing in defence after an injury to Levi Colwill, while Graham Potter’s West Ham United moved for Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes ahead of Deadline Day as they seek their first points of the season.
What are the big deals done so far?
The arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool are among the biggest signings of this transfer window, while Manchester United have added Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and Arsenal have signed Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. There have been some notable departures, too, including Jacob Ramsey leaving Aston Villa for Newcastle on a permanent deal.
